Rituals

Welcome to the

A small potted plant with green leaves and black berries sits on a wooden surface. The pot is round and textured, appearing to be made of stone. In the background, there are fabric materials and a blurred white and black object.

Studio Roka Rituals are various mindful clay experiences designed to help you slow down, trust your intuition, and try something new - no clay knowledge needed. We have connected with experts from fields that reflect the Studio Roka lifestyle, using the space to explore creativity, cope with the rush of the city and convey the values we care about.

Breathwork, Cacao and Clay

Through the combination of breathwork, cacao, and clay, this workshop invites us to experience the creative process from a grounded state anchored in the body. We share a heart-opening cacao ceremony, center our energy through the power of the breath, and connect creatively with the element of earth — clay.

Francesca is a Kundalini Yoga teacher, breathwork Coach, and hypnotherapist. She is the co-founder of the Breath Academy studio in Zurich.

The Harvest Table

with Valentin Bösch and Mojca Vidmar

The Harvest Table unfolds within the Studio Roka space, an intimate fine-dining experience shaped by a seasonal, chef-crafted 6 course menu, stories of clay and the quiet rituals of pottery. Food becomes a sensory craft: carefully chosen ingredients, flavours composed like textures on clay, and a table set with intention using pieces from Studio Roka’s evolving ceramic collection.

An evening that invites you to slow down, savour, and connect - where shared presence becomes the true luxury, and the timeless ritual of sharing food with the people closest to us, is elevated into something extraordinary.

Valentin, is a private chef for a discerning clientele, he focuses on elegance through reduction, creating atmospheres rather than just dishes. For him cooking is a quiet art — precise, restrained, and full of depth. Shaped by Swiss culinary tradition and the sensual aromas of Mexico, he combines lightness, smoke, and fresh citrus notes into a modern, refined cuisine. His travels through Europe, North Africa, and Asia bring subtle, worldly accents to every plate.

PAPER PULP

Exploring Form, Texture and Intuitive Making

Maria runs a studio in Lima where she teaches regularly, working with both beginners and more experienced makers. Her practice is rooted in material exploration, sustainability, and a deep connection to traditional techniques.

About the process

We’ll guide you step by step through the process of transforming recycled paper and cardboard into a workable material.

You’ll learn how to break down paper into pulp, knead it into a smooth, clay-like consistency, and shape it into forms that are surprisingly light yet strong.

The process is slow and hands-on, with a focus on touch, experimentation and material awareness. It’s also a chance to work with what already exists – giving new life to everyday materials.

Friday
June 19th

9:30-13:00

&

14:00-17:30

At Studio Roka, we love exploring materials beyond the expected.
In this half day workshop, we invite you to discover paper not just as something you write on, but as a tactile, expressive material you can shape with your hands.

Together with artist Maria Paz Mejía from Unu Papel in Peru, you’ll be introduced to the technique of working with paper maché in a more sculptural way. Instead of the traditional layering method, we work with a clay-like paper pulp that allows you to shape, carve and build objects in a very direct and intuitive way.

You’ll create your own pieces – for example vessels or small sculptural forms – inspired by both your own ideas and references to pre-Columbian ceramics and ritual objects. This approach can also open up new ways of thinking about form and surface in your ceramic practice.

What you’ll learn

  • how to select and prepare different types of recycled paper and cardboard

  • how to create a smooth, workable pulp

  • how to shape both solid and hollow forms by hand

  • how to build textures, reliefs and attach elements

  • how to refine surfaces and support your forms where needed

  • how to add natural pigments

  • how to dry your pieces properly

  • how to apply simple, eco-friendly finishes

We invite you to bring your own materials if you like – newspapers, cardboard, egg cartons, or even old letters. It adds a personal layer to your work and connects you more closely to the process.

No prior experience is needed.

If you have worked with clay before, you might find interesting connections – but it’s absolutely not required.
If you enjoy working with your hands, are curious about materials, and like a more intuitive and exploratory way of creating, this workshop is for you.
